The installation of the sensor system (IoT technology) for monitoring environmental conditions has begun in the Municipality of Katerini, within the framework of the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR Project "Boosting the implementation of adaptation policy across Greece" (LIFE 17IPC/GR/000006).
The 16 metric systems include sensors measuring: Temperature, Humidity, Particulate Matter (PM) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and are placed at points of interest throughout the city of Katerini to monitor real-time the Urban Heat Island phenomenon and create public awareness.
Together with the installment of the sensors, an online application will be developed to monitor and provide real-time information for a series of the environmental parameters to citizens, visitors as well as municipal services, of the Municipality of Katerini.
