Organization of the three-day capacity building workshop in the Region of Crete

The three-day capacity building workshop for the adaptation of the Region of Crete to climate change, which is organized in the context of the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project, will take place on 30-31 March and 01 April 2022 in Crete. More specifically, the workshop will take place:

  • In Heraklion, on the 30th March (introduction & presentation/discussion on the Regional Adaptation Action Plan) – Attendance with a physical presence or online,
  • In Heraklion, on the 31st March (sectors: ‘tourism, coastal uses and water resources’) – Attendance with a physical presence,
  • In Chania, on the 1st of April (sectors: ‘biodiversity-ecosystems and agriculture’) – Attendance with a physical presence.

 

The workshop is being co-organized by the Green Fund and the Region of Crete in the framework of action C.6 of the project, which aims at building the country's capacity to adapt to climate change. This will be the 2nd out of 13 regional capacity-building workshops which are foreseen for the period 2021-2024 (one for each Region in Greece). The workshop targets at 3 different types of audiences in the Region:

(a) Decision-makers,

(b) Technical and other staff of regional and local authorities, and

(c) Stakeholders (including professional groups of sectors affected by the impacts of climate change).

The aim of the workshop is to provide the necessary knowledge and tools to the public services and other stakeholders regarding climate change adaptation, giving emphasis on the most vulnerable sectors of the Region of Crete, as well as to enable the implementation of Crete’s Regional Adaptation Action Plan.

It is noted that participants who intend to attend physically the workshop are required to present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate or official documentation of recovery from COVID-19, in line with the existing COVID-19 pandemic measures.
