Information and Educational Activities for the Adaptation of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to Climate Change, within the framework of the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR Project
The LIFE-IP AdaptInGR Project, in collaboration with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, organizes Information and Educational Regional Events in Komotini, Xanthi and Kavala.

9th Regional Information Day

The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (PAMTH), in collaboration with the Union of Regions of Greece (EN.PE), the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) and the Hellenic Society for Environment and Culture (ELLET), is organizing an Info-Day entitled "Adaptation of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to Climate Change" on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
The event is open to the public and will take place at the Great Club of Kavala (Kyprou 12-14, Kavala) from 10:30 to 15:00. It is noted that no pre-registration is required for attendance and admission is free.
The purpose of the Conference is to inform and raise awareness among the residents of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace about the adaptation of their Region to climate change, through the presentation of relevant policies and strategic plans.
The 1st Section of the Conference will include a presentation of the Regional Plan for Climate Change Adaptation (RPCA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and presentations by distinguished speakers on the most important vulnerable sectors, as well as innovative technologies for addressing the impacts of climate change. The conference will focus on the following thematic sections: Primary Sector & Forest Systems, Agriculture, Coastal Zones and Civil Protection.
The 2nd Section of the Conference includes the screening of video clips on the impacts of climate change on the landscape and cultural heritage in Europe and the wider Mediterranean region. The video excerpts are particularly relevant today, in the era of climate change and the multiple challenges we are called to manage, offering food for thought for the present and the future. This will be followed by a presentation entitled “Adaptation of landscape, land uses of PAMT to Climate Change” by ELLET, followed by a discussion.

Three-Day Regional Training Seminar
Monday, October 14, 2024 – Wednesday, October 16, 2024
The Three-Day Training Seminar on the Adaptation of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to Climate Change will be held in person from October 14 to 16, 2024 (09:30 – 15:00) in Komotini and Xanthi and more specifically:
October 14-15, 2024: Georgios Pavlidis Hall, 1st floor, Dimokratias Avenue 1, Komotini
October 16, 2024: Manos Hadjidakis House or ≪Hadjidakeio≫, El. Venizelou 17, Xanthi.
The Seminar is organized by the Green Fund, in collaboration with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Admission is free. Pre-registration is required for participation at the following link: https://forms.gle/JbrcdbqV6bZVTSW56.
The aim of the Seminar is to provide the necessary knowledge and tools to services and other stakeholders on climate change adaptation issues, with an emphasis on the highly vulnerable sectors of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. This new knowledge and skills will contribute to the implementation of protection measures against the negative impacts of climate change, the exploitation of emerging opportunities and, finally, the successful implementation of the Regional Plan for Climate Change Adaptation and the shielding of the Region against its impacts.
The seminar is aimed at three (3) categories of audience in the Region: (a) Decision-makers, (b) Executives of technical and other services and/or local government bodies, and, (c) Stakeholders, including professional groups in sectors affected by the impacts of climate change. The Seminar is free of charge and a certificate of attendance will be given to those who wish to do so after its conclusion. It is emphasized that participation in the Seminar for all three (3) days is not required for its successful attendance.
